Hey, Good Lookin' Hank Williams
This song makes me think of montage music in a movie or something while they show the characters going through life and as they are growing up. My favorite part of this song is the instrumentals right in the beginning, they remind me of the sound in old Hawaiian music. Like other songs I've blogged about, there is the part in the song where the instrumentals sound like they are singing the lyrics. In the middle when there is no singing, the instruments sound like they are singing "hey good lookin' what you got cookin'".

This song gives off a really happy vibe but is also slow-paced. It is not very fast-paced, but it still gives off a happy feeling, it doesn't feel sad at all. I think it's interesting how the singing style is being delivered in this song, it matches up with the pace of the song how he drags out words like "hey" in "Hey, Good Lookin'". If Hank didn't do this, the singing wouldn't match up with the background noise. The lyrics used "tooken" and "cookin' somethin' up with me" are examples of how the use of language was back then. (We wouldn't use this language now).
Hey Kili! I also listened to this song and thought the same thing about the song and how it reminded me about how it sounds like an old Hawaiian song. The beginning reminded me of driving in my grandma’s old 4runner. I think starting off on a good note of a song is always a good thing and it really made me want to continue listening! Good job Kili!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 100%! I thought all the same things you do! It really isn't a fast paced song but to me it doesn't feel too slow either. I also do love how the instrumental part of the song goes along with the lyrics even though he isn't singing. I used to listen to this song when I was little so I know all the lyrics haha!
ReplyDeleteAlright, good blog! Really liked how you noticed something rather faint which was him trying to match his voice to the background music, good catch. Seems like you really know how the song was layed out, how the instruments all connect and blend. And that really elevates this blog. Well done!
