Here You Come Again Dolly Parton
The way this song sounds is really interesting to me. The instruments used in this song are not traditional country song instruments. Which then gives this song such an interesting sound to it. I do think the sound is unique, but the instruments do go well together in this song. So I feel like this song does break out of the norms a little bit. This does surprise me a bit because I wasn't expecting it. Dolly Parton's singing in the song does have a country twang sound to it. My favorite part of the song is when she sings "And Here I Go" and then the instrumental part follows it. Like I said in one of my other blog posts, this song's instrumental part does sound like the instruments are singing the words of the song. This is my favorite part because it encourages the singer to sing the lyrics of the song even when the singer isn't singing them. It also makes the song a lot catchier. The story of the song seems to be that she is following or chasing after someone, whenever you come again, here I go again after you. The melody is stuck in my head after listening to it 3 times critically.
Dolly Parton truly is an American treasure. Her name nowadays transcends her music with her appearances in various forms of other media, but her music and voice are really one of a kind. As for this song in particular, I personally think the song is about falling in love all over again. But I would also say that Dolly is just as in love with the idea of it as this guy she sings about is in love with her. The tone of Dolly's voice in this song is one you would associate with the feeling of young love. Love that is fun and without much care of anything else.
ReplyDeleteDolly Parton is n amazing singer. From what I have seen other people say, I would say this song is more leaning towards the pop side of things for country. I like the way you analyzed the lyrics, because they were really catchy, and I have noticed that Dolly seems to do that with her songs. Or she repeats a phrase a ton, like in her song "Jolene."
