Be My Baby - The Ronettes
The song "Be My Baby" has such an upbeat sound and a chorus that I couldn't help to sing along to. My favorite part of the song is the beginning when the instruments slowly get incorporated into the song, and then finally the voice starts singing the lyrics and it just comes together so perfectly and has such a natural sound to it. Even though there are so many instruments in this song, they all still play very well together. Nothing about this song is simple sounding. There are so many sounds in this song that it is so much more than catchy lyrics. Having listened to this song multiple times, I found myself trying to listen to the rhythm of a different instrument each time. Even though the Ronettes repeat "Be My Baby" multiple times, there is still a story being told in the lyrics. "I'll make you happy baby, just you wait and see". This is just a happy song about falling for someone and being in love. The way the singer drags out "Be my Baby Noooooww" adds to the catchiness of this song. Because of the way she is dragging out certain words, it makes you want to sing along a lot more than if she was just saying the lyrics with no correlation to the beat of the background.
Hey Kili! I too really liked this song because of how the instruments were there and overlapping with one another but also the group sang so effortlessly. It really is a catchy song, I could definitely see people dancing and singing to this song back then and now. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThis song was super good. I listened to it after class and still loved it. I think this should be the face of good 50's and 60's music.

Good job on this week's blog post. I like how you explain that this song is very catchy. A lot of songs from this genre were made to be catchy and be hits. I also like your description of the sound. how a lot is going on and a lot of layers to the song.
